It was 1892 when Giuseppe Verdi completed Falstaff, a comic opera inspired by a well-known Shakespearean character: Sir John Falstaff.

Is it a coincidence that an anchovy makes an appearance in the libretto during the first act, at the Garter Inn?

Whether it’s a fortuitous accident or an unexpected culinary treat, we’ll never know. But we like to imagine the composer and the librettist sitting around a table, discussing the opera while savoring our anchovies.

What we do know for sure is that anchovies are an institution in Parma, a cherished tradition passed down through generations, much like opera itself.

To offer you a taste of our Teatro and its one-of-a-kind atmosphere, we present our Opera Limited Edition Box, created in collaboration with the Teatro Regio di Parma.
